The Society of Women Engineers hosts several outreach events on campus each year to familiarize students (K-12) with engineering and the career options available to them. Some of these events include Girls in Engineering, Launch into Engineering, and SWE On Tour. At these events, we provide a chance for students to engage in hands-on STEM based activities, exposing them to different engineering principles. Many of the students invited to these events come from underprivileged neighborhoods surrounding the Houston area and do not have the luxury to attend summer camps or extracurricular STEM programs. SWE’s outreach events are catered to local schools near campus to inform them of what the University of Houston has to offer. Our goal is to provide resources, knowledge, and encouragement to potential future Cougars. These events create an excitement around engineering and leave students with a positive impression of the University.
